★ 5.0It is one of several gates that brings you into the Medina. The architecture is more elaborate than the other gates and as also a fairly tall wall. For me what is special is the reflections at sunset which is magical. It is almost as if the stonework comes alive. Be mindful taking photographs here as people in Marrakesh sometimes assume they are in your photo so can be irrationally aggressive or hostile. Just be patient and wait for people to move on. The gate isn’t as busy as others.

★ 5.0A beautiful place to visit. A beautiful gate leading to the part of the old city known as the Kasbah. It is also called the Palace Gate, as the royal palace was located within the Kasbah. The gate dates back to the 12th century. Behind the gate are shops, restaurants, and a path leading to the palace.

★ 5.0Beautiful gateway (if you know the historical significance already) located quite centrally in Marrakech. Plenty of shops and hawkers nearby but they'll try to charge tourists 2-5 times the normal price. Be ready to haggle and don't buy any supplements that are claimed to cure your ailments - they aren't created scientifically. Also, it's rather busy and there's a lot of road traffic so it's hard to get a decent photo of the gate during peak hours.
