Essaouira
The breezy Atlantic port town, Marrakech's antidote, with seafood, surfing, and zero hustle.
Weather in Essaouira
Why visit Essaouira
After Marrakech's intensity, Essaouira feels like a different country. Whitewashed walls, blue fishing boats, fresh seafood grilled at the port, wind that never stops blowing (great for windsurfing, occasionally annoying). Easy 3-hour bus from Marrakech, ideal as a 2–3 day decompression chapter on a Morocco itinerary.
Days needed

Know before you go
- ★ The wind. Constant 30–60 km/h breeze. Bring a windbreaker.
- ★ Beach is more for walking than swimming, Atlantic is cold and choppy.
- ★ Less aggressive shopping scene than Marrakech. Bargaining is calmer.
- ★ Pet seagulls everywhere at the port. Don't carry your sandwich exposed.
