How to say 'thank you' in Darija

Shukran is the all-purpose thank-you. To emphasize: Shukran bezzaf (شكرا بزاف), “thanks a lot.”

The reply you’ll usually get back: bla jmil (بلا جميل), “no worries / don’t mention it.”

Pronunciation note

The kh is the throaty sound from Spanish jamón or Scottish loch, not the English k. Locals will understand either, but the throaty version is what you’ll hear back.
